This news is prompted by an excited phone call I received from Colette, a niece-in-law from my home town of Lafayette, LA. She'd received an email from a friend in the UK who told her she was trying to get to Los Angeles this September to attend a conference by Veteran Feminists of America. Her friend sent a copy of the invitation from VFA's website. Colette saw my name and photo, "That's my Aunt Jacqui," she told her. She knew I was involved in something feminist, but had no idea what. This experience awakened her own feminist consciousness, and she shared with me thoughts she'd not expressed before.
